Coronavirus and your pet
We recognise that there maybe questions around animal transmission of Coronavirus Covid19.
There has been a single reported case of a dog having become infected by Covid19 in the news recently. However, the World Organisation for Animal Health states that “There is no evidence that companion animals, such as dogs, play a role in the spread of this human disease or that they become sick.â€
If you are diagnosed with Covid-19, the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you restrict contact with your pets as a precautionary measure. If you have to care for a sick pet, it is recommended that you take some basic precautionary measures. Wash your hands before and after any interaction with your pet and wear a facemask.
In the very unlikely event that your pet shows clinical signs, please do not bring it in to the practice. Please ring us for further advice. Visit our “Contact us†page for all our contact details.
As the situation changes, we may issue further updates.
Coronavirus UPDATE
Like all businesses, Bay Vet Group has put in place a series of measures designed to help keep you, your pet and our staff safe during your visits to us. Currently, we are following Public Health and NHS advise and requesting clients make use of either hand wash facilities or hand sanitiser gels which are available at all of our sites. We kindly request that if you have recently travelled from a country of risk or been in contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus that you do not attend our surgeries. When the situation changes we will update you further via our website. We may start to take consultations and payments over the phone and limit medicine collection to outside of normal consultation times to reduce contact time and larger groups of people. Please follow any advice given to you by our reception team when booking appointments.
